Three Cheese Stromboli Rolls

I make stromboli about once a month. It's requested a lot in our house. Instead of making the traditional bake and slice version I opted for the slice then bake version. I also played with the ingredients a tad bit to change it up considering I make it so much.

Homemade dough. You heard that right! It is the easiest thing to make. I can not remember the last time I bought a store bought dough. There's just no need for it. All of your favorite Italian meats rolled up with not one, not two, but three, yes three Italian cheeses. Oh my! Dip them in a marinara sauce or just eat them plain.

Tis the season for football eats and treats! If your a football fan and make game day treats then your going to want to serve these to your guests. I am warning you these are highly addictive. You won't be able to stop at just one or even two. You may even just make new friends.

Ingredients

For the dough:
1-¼ cup Warm Water

2 teaspoons Instant Yeast

1 Tablespoon Honey

2 Tablespoons Sugar

1 Tablespoon Olive Oil

2 teaspoons Salt

3 cups unbleached flour

For the assembly:

12 slices thin deli sopresatta

12 slices thin deli salami

12 slices thin deli pepperoni

12 slices deli provolone

1 cup grated mozzarella cheese

1 cup grated parmesan cheese

Directions

In a large mixing bowl (or in the bowl of a stand mixer), mix the water, yeast, sugar, honey and oil. Then mix in 1 cup flour and the salt. Continue mixing in all the remaining flour until you get a nice, soft dough. Knead until dough is soft and smooth, about 10 minutes by hand or 5 minutes with a stand mixer.
Shape the dough into a ball and place in a lightly greased bowl and cover tightly (with a lid or plastic wrap). Place the dough in a warm place and let rise for about one hour.

Preheat your oven to 425 degrees F.

On a floured surface, roll the dough into a long oval, then layer with sopresatta, salami, and pepperoni, then cheeses. Roll the long side away from you until sealed. With a sharp knife slice into one inch wide rolls.

Place each roll onto a parchment or silpat lined baking sheet. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until outside is nice and golden brown.

Serve warm or at room temperature.
