Apple Fries Fritter Style

I absolutely love these! I will forever have a love for fried foods. How ever I try to stay far away from them. But sometimes things like this pop into my head and all that will power goes away. Everything in moderation right? Just the fact that they are fries makes you feel better about eating a whole fritter.

Unfortunately you will not be able to stop at just one. Maybe like 5 or 10 or the whole pile.
It's only one apple right? Dipped in batter perfectly fried, drizzled with icing then dusted in cinnamon I may just like these better than pie!

If you have extra apples to use up from apple picking give this recipe a go! They are warm, crisp, and sweet, a perfect fall treat.

Ingredients

1 large apple peeled and cut into "fries"

1 tablespoon flour

1 teaspoon cinnamon, plus 1/2 teaspoon

1 teaspoon sugar

1 cup complete pancake mix

1 cup water, more to thin if necessary

1/2 cup powdered sugar

2-3 teaspoons milk

oil for frying

Directions
In a large heavy bottom sauce pan heat oil to 350 degrees F.

Place sliced apples in a medium bowl toss with flour, 1 teaspoon cinnamon and sugar. Set aside.

Mix pancake mix and water until lumps are gone. (You want it on the thinner side add more water if necessary 1 teaspoon at a time)

Mix powdered sugar, remaining cinnamon and milk in small bowl till smooth, set aside. ( this will be your glaze)

When oil has come to temperature dip apple rings into prepared pancake batter. Shake excess batter off apple rings before gently dropping in oil.

As they turn a golden brown gently turn them and cook the other side. The fries should be done in 3-4 minutes.

Remove and let drain on paper towels.

Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar while they are hot. Drizzle them with glaze as you serve them.
