I now serve you the best "manwich" on the face of the planet. Not only is it the best sandwich, it has the best coleslaw ever on it. Hot roast beef with cool crisp coleslaw. I don't usually label my recipes "the best" but, I had this a while back at a sandwich shop and I knew I had to recreate it. So it has been kid tested and man approved and I strongly suggest you give it a try!
For The Coleslaw:
1/3 cup white sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/4 cup milk
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup buttermilk
1 1/2 tablespoons distilled white vinegar
2 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice
4 cups finely chopped green cabbage
4 cups finely chopped red cabbage
1/4 cup grated carrots
1/4 cup green bell pepper, chopped
In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar, salt, pepper, milk, mayonnaise, buttermilk, vinegar and lemon juice until smooth.
Add cabbage, carrots, and bell pepper, mix until blended with the dressing.
Refrigerate at least 2 hours before serving. Save any extra for the next few days.
For the sandwiches:
1 1/2 pounds thinly sliced rare deli roast beef
6 sandwich rolls
Thousand Island Dressing (make your own or store bought)
Salt and Pepper
Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add the roast beef slices to warm through.
Spread as much dressing on the bottoms of each bun. Layer a few slices of the roast beef, then top with coleslaw and the top of the bun. Serve
