Slow Cooker Meatballs in Gravy

Perfect tender tasty meatballs in amazing gravy spooned over hot cooked egg noodles. Classic comfort food. Who doesn't love that? I love these lil guys. I also love the noodles to. I could eat them as a meal, hence the carb addiction. You can use any kind you like, I like the extra broad ones. They come in a bunch of sizes. Extra broad, wide, no yolk, whatever you prefer. You will end up with the same result a full belly that's for sure.

Ingredients

For the gravy:
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups low-sodium beef broth
1 beef boullion cube
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup heavy cream
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional)

For the meatballs:
1 cup breadcrumbs
2 tablespoons dried onion
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
Kosher salt and freshly ground white pepper
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
3/4 pound lean ground beef
1/2 pound lean ground pork
1 large egg, beaten

Directions

To make the gravy:
Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the flour and cook, whisking, until smooth. Whisk in the beef broth, bullion cube and Worcestershire sauce and bring to a simmer. Add the cream. Season with salt and black pepper. Transfer to the slow cooker on low heat.

To make the meatballs:
Place all the ingredients in a large bowl and mix until combined. Start rolling the meatballs, I make mine small for this recipe so I would say a little smaller than a golf ball.

Heat a large non-stick skillet with 1 tablespoon of oil over medium high heat. Brown the meatballs on each side. You wont be cooking them through. Remove and set place in slow cooker in gravy.

Cook on low for 4-5 hours. Serve over hot cooked egg noodles.

    1. Hi Kristin,
I got about 30 meatballs out of this recipe. It can easily be doubled and tripled. Hope that helps!

  9. Just to let you know...the meatballs were a great success! Everyone wants the recipe, so I'll direct them to your blog. I ended up making about 120 meatballs by quadrupling the recipe. I had a little too much gravy, so next time might adjust that. I also had frozen them because I made them about 1 week ahead, and thawed and re-heated with no problems. Thanks for a great recipe!
