Slow Cooker Scalloped Potatoes

This picture does not do these potatoes justice. This was such and easy side dish to throw together and forget about. Sick of those boxed scalloped potatoes but always afraid to try to make the real ones? Well give this a try. I assure you, you will not be disappointed.

Kielbasa and Kraut {Slow Cooker}

I love love love Kielbasa. I don't like the grease that comes along with it. So when I was in the store I am saying to myself they must have a Turkey version and after some searching I found it! Simmered in yummy Bavarian Sauerkraut all seasoned up, this dish was delicious. I paired it along with my sweet potato perogies. It was a fantastic meal. I hope everyone has a great week and stays warm here on the east coast!

Happy Thanksgivivg

All I can say is it's been one crazy summer and fall. I am actually looking forward to a whole new year. With all that has taken place with the hurricane and with all the families that are still nearby without homes, I am so very thankful to have mine. So everyone hug and kiss their kids a little more, squeeze your hubby or man, and give thanks to your parents and family. With that said I am taking the week off, to prepare for our Thanksgiving feast. It will involve food shopping, cleaning, cleaning and some more cleaning. Oh and a whole lot of cooking. Gobble Gobble everyone!!!

Roasted Vegetable and Turkey Casserole

If your like me and host Thanksgiving every year you always have leftovers. I know I do and that's after everyone left with doggie bags. This dish is perfect for your left over turkey and stuffing. Or you can start from scratch. It's an easy weeknight throw it all together meal.

Mahogany Chicken Burritos with Smoky Yam Puree and Cilantro Chimichurri

Tis the season for sweet potatoes. I am not sure if people realize how versatile they really are not to mention delicious. Talk about a ton of flavors coming together, this dish has them all. It really is that different and if my picky eaters ate them yours will to! You can even make them vegetarian. These are just plain good, 'nuff said!

Maple Dijon Chicken

Chicken, I cook a lot of chicken. I really have no explanation why? This chicken is delicious I mean really really delicious. It is one of the easiest dishes to make. I served this along side some crock pot scalloped potatoes that I made during our power outage. I was able to run the slow cooker off the generator. Who knew?! I will be posting that recipe soon. We got some snow last night not to bad though.  I hope everyone stays warm!

Roasted Sweet Potato Perogies

Happy Monday. Maybe? I hope all my east coast friends have gotten some gas to make to to work. I fueled up before the storm so I still have some left. Now lets talk food.
Perogies any way any form I just love them. So I decided to try and make them. Well it was a success. Not only a success but easy peasy to make. They are delicious very rich in flavor. Topped with some caramelized onions the sweet and salty flavors play off each other amazingly well.

Donations For Hurricane Sandy Victims

Let's take a break from blogging per say and please take a minute to donate even small change to victims of Hurricane Sandy. The devastation is unreal. Not only was most of  my village under water and many friends homes lost, but there are so many people with out anything at all. Below are some links for you to give anything you can to those less fortunate during this terrible time.

Thanks so much!

Browned Butter Oatmeal Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies

As I post sit here and post this. I am running my power in my home from a gas powered generator. Due to hurricane sandy we will surely be with out power for fifteen days. Yes FIFTEEN days! Thank goodness for a friend that has lent us this beast to run power to our home. Our village actually canceled Halloween yesterday. I took my daughter a few towns over so she could enjoy her day. There has been no school all week. I can't not begin to describe to you the devastation in our area. Peoples homes have floated away. Our beach is gone and destroyed. The ocean has broken through to the bay. We have the National Guard and various other military troops patrolling and helping people get their belongings from their flooded homes. They are using boats in our streets a sight I thought I'd never see. I am thankful enough that the water only just missed our home by two short blocks. I will deal without the power over that any day! So if everyone can maybe just say a little prayer for all the people who have lost a home or a car or just anything at all; maybe it will make things a little easier.
